Update on family health issues

Ok. I'm keeping it real here today. Mom had an EDG this morning and they can't find out what is wrong. Right now as I'm typing this (1:00 in the afternoon) she is waiting to have a CAT scan with contrast. They still don't know what is making her feel bad. She is still feels very sick when she is walking around.

Dad is doing better but still isn't feeling good. The good news is that he didn't have to go to the ER and he hasn't gone back to the doctor.

I'm just worried because it seems like all of this has been going on for so long.

Update from yesterday

Hi Everyone,

Well Mom still isn't feeling any better. She called the doctor and left a message but they haven't called her back yet. At this point one of two things will happen, either she will make a drastic turn and get better really quickly or she is going to end up in the hosptial for dehydration. With my Mom there is no middle ground.

In the words of Hallie Dad was horned today. They said that they found a lot of gird in his stomach which is part of the reason that he felt so bad and that he also has a hital hernia. They did take some biopsies, but the doctor said that his colon looked better than he thought it would. Mom was right in the fact that they did find stuff that wasn't there before, but at least it wasn't as bad as we thought. Of course we are still waiting to hear what the biopsies show.

I'm still waiting to to hear about the job. When it comes to job search now, I no longer say no news is good news - no news is just no news.

Intersting Day

Well today proved to bee a little more exciting than we wanted. Mom went to her doctor today because she has been sick since Wednesday (she went to urgent care on Thursday). Well the doctor wanted to admit her to the hospital, but her labs came back ok so they agreed to let her go to the outpatient area of the hospital for 1.5 liters of fluid and they gave a few scripts. Tomorrow dad has his colonoscopy.

Mom's Helpful Hints

What are your favorite hints that you have received from your Mom? If you are a Mom, what hints have you passed on to your children as they were growing up? Today I baked Oatmeal, Date & Chocolate Chip Cookies for Dad from Mom's recipe. I love to bake and learned a lot about baking from my Mom. Other help hints from my Mom is to steam your microwave to clean it by placing a bowl of water with a toothpick in it (prevents the water from getting superheated and exploding) in the microwave for 10 minutes. The other help hint she gave me was that I can clean my glasses with rubbing alcohol. You can buy a box of alcohol wipes much cheeper than you can buy the wipes to clean your glasses.

Interview Update

Well I had my interview today. When I was on my way to the interview the owner of the company called and asked to move it back two hours, so I went to my church and helped out with the slides for tomorrow night's practice. I didn't want to go home and sit around and wait, I would have gotten too nervous plus I didn't want to get my interview clothes covered in dog hair. I haven't tought the dogs the difference between casul clothes and dress-up clothes (LOL). I found out that I was the first person that he interviewd, so he will be interviewing for the next two weeks and then will call back his top choices. Hopefully I will know something in a couple of weeks.

Update on Dad:
He isn't going to have colonoscopy this week after all. The problem is that the doctor that he was going to works out of a hospital that isn't on the insurance plan and due to his sleep apnea the procedure needs to be done in the hospital. I hate insurance for this reason. So now Dad is changing doctors (that is ok, Mom works with this guy in the hospital) and had an appointment with him yesterday but I don't know when the test has been scheduled for or even if it has been scheduled yet. I do know that Dad is starting to feel really bad.

Well it is Thursday

My Dad had a doctor's appointment yesterday and was diagnoised with sleep apnea (sp?). They told him that during the night of his sleep study that he stopped breathing 40 times. The doctor said that this could be the cause of is lack of energy, his O2 level being so low, part of his memory problems and compound other issues he is facing. Monday night he goes back for another sleep study for them to try him on the machine and to see how he does with that. We know that this won't fix everything, but hopefully it will give him back some quality of life. It was a real answer to prayer to find this, becuase it is something that we can treat.

Hope you are all doing well.
