I'm happy about my new job, really I am

Ness told me to be careful what I wished for, and boy is that true. I'm really am excited and loving my new job as a substitute teacher. I have been all over the county, but I have two schools that are favorites and one of them I seem to get a job at least once a week there. I'm still not 100% use to the routine yet and I know part of that is that the routine is different every day. In the county that I live in if you work at a elementary or high school you have to be to work at 7:30; if it is a middle school it is 7:45, which of course isn't a HUGE differnece. However since I'm subbing and I'm driving all over the county the main differnce for me is commute time. There are 2 schools that are right around the corner and my drive time is less than 5 minutes, however most of the schools that I have been able to get jobs at my commute is more like an hour in the morning due to traffic. Of course, I think the biggest adjustment is trying to work full-time (hey it is considered temp work, but I work 5 days a week - 8 hours a day so that is full-time to me) and still help take care of Grammy & Dad and get dinner on the table when Mom is working.

I say all of this in hopes that you will feel sorry for me and not give me a hard time for my lack of blog updates. I know that I have to find a way to blog more often.

Now to catch up. Last Sunday we had Anthony Evans come and sing at my church. He did a concert for us on Saturday night and then sang in morning worship. This concert was kind of special, because we collected food items and money and all donated the enitre morning offering to help fight hunger in our area. We have some food banks here that are having a hard time feeding people because the economy is so bad that they weren't not getting enough donations. We had a great turn out and collected a lot food and money to help them help others. Here is one of Anthony's videos.

I'm really looking forward to next weekend. For the first time since I moved up to Cartersville I will be able to go back to Tampa for a weekend. I'm going to fly out on Saturday for a reunion with my friends from work and that night meet up with my sister and brother-in-law for dinner. Sunday I will go to church at my Tampa church (I might not be a member anymore since I moved, but it is still my church - so saying that it is my "former church" just does not seem to fit) and see my friends. We are getting together for a pot-luck (but I've been excused from bringing anything - but I'm going to anyway - I'm making a cake to surprise one of my friends for her birthday and I'm just going to bring it on the plane with me.) for lunch, and I will hang out there until it is time for my to fly home on Sunday evening. It iwll be a short trip, but I'm so excited.

I think that catches you all up for this week. I promise I will blog again before my trip.

P. S. New picture of me on it's way. I had to take a picture for my church photo directory yesterday. I should have it in 3 - 4 weeks and as soon as I do I will scan it to the blog.

Commuting is a pain; I haven't had to do it for many, many years--the few months that I spent commuting cemented a firm belief that, for me, living close to work was imperative. Since you are subbing, you have no control over your commute, but at least now you know what to go for if you decide to stay at one school.

And good for you on your trip; it sounds like you will have such fun, and you are certainly packing a lot into the time you have there!

As for blogging, just do the best you can do; it's all about what works for ya!

You are SO happy....it shows in every word and I am so happy for you. I remember what it was like to be able to go back and reunion with friends where I formerly lived. A cake on the plane? You're as crazy as my son who is baking a cheesecake to take to Virginia this weekend...me thinks there is a girl involved! lol Take care and blog when you can!
