Update on Grandma

Update as of 3:00 pm on 12/31/08:
Grandma is having surgery today to remove her gallbladder. We know that is at least part of the problem. Mom said that her liver and pancreas is inflamed as well, but they think that might be because of the gallbladder.

Grandma is still in the hospital. I spent most of the day there with her. She is still pretty weak, however she now able to keep down broth at least. They did an ultrasound today and found that her gallbladder is full of fluid. They are going to do a couple of more test tomorrow to see if that is just because she has a virus or if her gallbladder decided to stop working. The idea that it is her gallbladder is very possible since everyone else, except me, has already had theirs removed and she has been having some minor symptoms for awhile (like a sensitive stomach at times). Grandma is really wanting to come home tomorrow, of course, but she does need to be in there to get fluids since she can't really eat yet.

Thank you for all of the prayers.

Steph

Continued prayers. Tell Grandma it's better to stay in the hospital and let them find out the whole story than having to go back and forth. Revoming a gallbladder with laparoscopic surgery today makes the surgery a breeze with only 3 one inch incisions. Take care, Steph and have a Happy New Year!

Continued prayers. Once that inflamed gallbladder is out of the way, everything else should heal accordingly. I know your grandmother and parents have to know how lucky they are to have you there. Your support has been invaluable. Family takes care of family. At least that is how it is supposed to be.
