Do You Remember...

*****Updated as of 09/06 @11:00 a.m.***** Dad was admitted to the hospital and it looks like he will be in there until at least Monday. His normal respiratory doctor isn't on call this weekend and the doctor on call wants to wait for his regular doctor to see if she can make heads or tails out of what is going on with Dad. Please stop over to Ness' blog, her daughter also ended up in the ER last night. So until the next installment of not only my daily life, but my crazy life....Have a great weekend.

Do you remember when I blogged about this day or this one? Well on a smaller level it has happened again. This time Dad didn't pass out, but his O2 level got so low that in the middle of the day he had to get on his CPAP machine and increase his oxygen from 2 litters to 4 litters just to get his O2 up to 90. Needless to say when we called the doctor they told us to bring him to the ER. At the time of this writing his O2 is up to 95, which is good but he has been on 4 litters of oxygen for 4 - 5 hours at least, he is still in the ER and we aren't sure if they are going to admit him or not yet. They have taken an X-Ray and a ton of blood work so we are just waiting to see what is going on.

When all of this happened the first time they put Dad on steroids - 3 pills a day, for at least two months. Well now that it has been 5 months since the original problem he is down to 1 pill a day and is now having issues again. Mom & the doctors all think that is goes back to the original issue.

Now the BIG QUESTION is what to do to make it better, since he can't stay on high levels of steriods and even if he did his body would get use to it and then they would have to keep increasing it and that isn't good at all. They did talk at one time of sending him to the University of Alabama's Medical Research Center, so that might still be an option.

Mom is with him and she just had surgery 2 days ago. And yes Mom is driving again even though the doctor told her to rest her foot. My Mom is a nurse and therefore is one of the worlds worst patients every. She has ALWAYS been that way though. Oh the stories I could tell about that, but I think she might kill me so I will keep them to myself.

Things are never boring around here. Right now I could go for a little bit of a boring life. Remind me of that if I EVER complain that life is boring.

Have a good weekend!!!

hugs and prayers... You are correct we nurse persons are BAD patients... I hope they can find out the cause ...treating symptoms does not usually take care of the issues at all it seems to just prolong or delay depending on the situaton.
More hugs Laura

Things are busy here too Steph. I have been terrible about commenting on friend's blogs of late, no apologies needed. If I can manage to even read I am doing well these days it seems!
